Anyone Else? C70/S70/850 Broken Sun Visor Hing (Repetitive Problem)

I'm having one reoccurring problem with my '01 C70 LPT Conv. That is
the sun visors break on both my passenger and driver side. They crack
right at the hinges. Some times it leads to the vanity light staying
on. It really bites because it's virtually unnoticeable during the
daytime and has lead to the battery going dead on two occasions (Which
lead to major problems – too long to get into for a future post).

I'm now bringing it back for a fourth visor replacement this Wed. I
have the feeling that it is a common problem because the dealership
always have visors in stock to replace them. It's become a real
nuisance, and given the interior design has not changed significantly
since the 850 you think they would have got it right by now!

Anyways, my question is. . . . am I alone with this problem?

Brought the car in on Monday and just got it back on Thursday. 3 days
to fix a sun visor. Unbelievable! To make matters worse they had to
replace the battery again, and true to form its leaking acid through
out the engine compartment. The sad part about this is its happened 3
time before!

I predict that after 20 or 30 years, they will bring back the 240 in one
form or another. Similar to the "rebirth" of the VW Beetle. What would
be VERY nice, would be if we didn't have to wait so long!

USA driver's continuing love affair with large heavy gas guzzlers proves
that we do not place a heavy premium on revised and more "advanced"
technology in vehicles. I see no reason why the 240 wouldn't continue
to sell well here.

No offense Bruce, but what does that have to do with my original post?

No. I have '93 850, '95 855, & '01 V70XC and no problems. Could it be
due to exposure to sunlight when the top is up??? Maybe a small piece
of plastic tape would shield it and stop the problem.

Well maybe indirectly. The part that breaks is the hing itself which
has no direct exposure to sunlight. I think the heat and a
combination of the constant up and down strain is causing the failure.

Another issue now is the new visor has a warning label that is
laminated on the underside of the visor. Unlike the original foil
sticker. It looks like s___t!
