I have a '94 940 Wagon which suffered a head gasket failure when the previous owner forgot to keep the coolant level up, until he had a chance to replace the water pump.
The head also suffered a bit of corrosion due to the use of water (no antifreeze) as the cooling medium. The machine shop welded up some holes in the sealing surface and then 'decked' the head, and align-bored the cam towers. Before I install the head I need to know if every water port in the block and head gasket has a corresponding port in the head. There are six which dead head at the cylinder head (as if, perhaps, he forgot to drill them out after filling).
    Thank you
