Changing tire sizes and DSTC

    I have a '01 S80 T6 with 17" wheels (225/50R17) and DSTC. I'd like to get
snow tires this year, and my Volvo dealer is recommending 225/55R16.
Although the dealer told me that going to a new wheel size would be fine
with DSTC, they've told me the opposite in the past. When pressed, the
mechanic didn't seem too sure one way or the other. My owner's manual (pg.
    85) specifically states "Volvo recommends 215/55R16 winters tires on all
four wheels". No mention of potential conflicts with DSTC.

Is DSTC so finely calibrated that going to a different tire size (either
225/55R16 or 215/55R16) would cause DSTC to act abnormally when active?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think that the size difference will make any difference to the
DSTC system, but I'd certainly trust the engineers that approved the
statement in the owner's manual over the dealer trying to sell what he
    has.
