I don't like the gas cap hanging down and putting scratches/scuffs in
my paint. I thought about removing the leesh, but I don't want to lose
    my gas cap.

So, I came up with this idea, received patent/trademark pending
protection and manufactured several thousand. I call my invention The
    GasCap Caddy™.

    Check it out. Take care.

The Volvos I've had all have a hook for the gas cap to clip to the
filler door. I've only seen domestic cars with the silly tether.

You're right, some vehicles do come with something similar. Some have
a leash and some have nothing at all - even within a particular
manufacturer it can vary between makes/models. Thankfully, not all
cars come with such a device, in fact most don't and The GasCap
Caddy™ is designed as an accessory item that can be added to
virtually any car, hence the uniqueness. The beauty also being that
The GasCap Caddy™ can work whether the vehicle has a leash or not
    (no caddy or clip.)

    Best wishes.

But I am sure that you knew all about Volvos and how they come with
something to hold the cap built in, and that you have no interest in
this commercial item personally, and that all you wanted to do was to
help the group, and so your message was not at all Spam, so we won't
report you to your ISP for spamming. We love you.

Uh, thanks? My 91' Volvo 240 did not have anything, so it would have
been a good candidate. At any rate, my intentions are not SPAM, but to
gain feedback from other automobile owners about the likely hood to
use/effectiveness The GasCap Caddy™ may provide. I simply do not
have the resources to test/gain feedback for all make/model vehicles
and Newsgroups provide an excellent avenue, for information gathering.
Were my intentions otherwise, I would not be replying to your message.

Best wishes on a happy 2006.

It does, unless the gas cap is not original so doesn't fit somehow.
There should be a space to set it in the hinge on the filler door.

Right on, James. I guess this "Adam" has had his gas cap on the roof at
filling stations for 14 years. ( If he got the 240 new.)

We didn't get it new, we were the third owners. Which explains it.

    Thanks for the feedback, all.

  9. My XC70 has a thing that looks like a coiled phone cord that lets the
    cap dangle while filling.
