Me again.

Update on the running problem on the '89' 740 GLE.

It went to the carb+injection specialist and they scratched their heads for
a while.
They checked the fuel line pressures. They are all okay on the main lines
from the pumps. It is on the controlled side that the pressure is being
lost.

They have come to the conclusion that the "Warm up regulator is at fault".

Being a sceptic and by gleaning all information thrust upon me by you boys.
I very much doubt it is the cause. Although it may fix the crappy running
when cold.

So I know that the pressure acting upon the warm up regulator comes from the
metering head so acting totally irrationally I am going to blame that for
the problem. Therefore mega bucks will not be heading toward it.

They did find the "Warm up regulator" was rather full of crap, which is
slightly worrying when the pipes go to the fuel distributor. (Metering head,
control unit whatever you may wish to refer to it as)

Would dirt in the control unit totally wreck the unit or would it be able to
be cleaned satisfactorily?

I've found the warm up regulator to be the least reliable part in that
whole fuel system. There's a thin metal diaphragm that often ruptures,
filling the inside of the unit with fuel, not allowing it to warm up
properly.

This warm up regulator controls that pressure, if it's wrong, the
problem can only be it or the lines to it.
