Fair price for 850R Wagon?

Thought I would ask the experts on this one..... a friend at work has a
1996 850R Wagon that I was admiring the other day and she offered to sell to
me (have always wanted one)..... it has 136k miles and appears to be in
very good shape (haven't driven or had it checked out yet by a mechanic
yet).

Any thoughts on a fair price for this car? also, is 136k high milage on
this car? I know it isn't for a Volvo in general, but am not familure with
the Type R cars and if there are any mechanical issues out there, turbo
issues, etc.....

Look up in the paper what similar cars are going for. The 850R is a special
car, there's not a lot of them out there and they're desirable. 136k is what
I would consider "low mileage", but a lot of that depends on how well it has
been maintained. The R's are pretty much the same in most ways as the
standard 850's, but they're often run a bit harder.

 

Based on what you've said (136K, 'very good shape') I'd say about
$7000-$8000.
