The smart money says Ford will unload Volvo.

The last successful foray Ford had in Europe was the GT 40 vs. Ferrari
    duel in the sixties.

That story falls into the category of Not New News. There were several
acquisitions that did not work out well, including Mercedes/Chrysler,
GM/Saab and Ford/Volvo. Although there were many issues in play, one
I thread is common to these cross-border purchases. Merging very
different corporate and country cultures is much harder than combining
    balance sheets.

Ford is not adding value to the Volvo company and should send it on it's
way to a new home. Selling Mercury is silly as there is nothing to sell.
