I find the shifting action is rather rough when the engine is cold,
especially between first and second gears. I can feel a "jolt" when the
clutch is released. In other words, the shifting action is not as smooth as
    on a Honda or Toyota.
Has anyone experienced something similar with a manual transmission Volvo ?

    ?

Clutch plates can stick on the gearbox input shaft on the manuals, which is
apparent by a sudden grabbing when moving off from a standstill, and in the
low gears. No real fix, you have to live with it.
