My heated seats work but they do not seem to get particularly hot.
Is the temp that they get too pre-set or is there any way it can be
    adjusted.??

I noticed this on my sister's 850 when we bought it last year from a Volvo
dealer. I thought the seats weren't working very well, so I made them
replace the heaters as part of the deal.

It is the same temp, hehe... But at least we got new heaters, and yes, I saw
them rip apart the seat to get at them and replace them.

So in my opinion, they don't get super hot.

The old 760 had two settings, from what I figure, the first setting is low,
puts both heaters in series, the second setting is high, puts both heaters
in parallel (to the voltage supply) making it nice and toasty.

I have to replace my 760 heaters, not a fun task.

The 760 has 2-stage heaters? Yet our 960 doesn't... They do get very warm
tho, and they work quickly. Was there a 2 position switch? We just have
on/off switches next to the gear selector... Our 740s heated seats were 1
position as well IIRC (745 GLE 16-Valve)

Nothing beats VW/Audi seat heaters tho... FIVE settings to choose from
ranging from lukewarm, warm, nicely hot, too hot, and grittle marks on the
ass.... Too bad the seats aren't nearly as good as Volvo seats... That and
the 960 seems to be programmed in to the "nicely hot" (it's actually just
called "3" on the switch) range.... so no complaints about heat levels.

    Hi Rob,

Yes, indeed ;), the 760 GLE had two settings. There is a relay under the
seat that switches the two heaters from series wired to parallel, the latter
    being the high setting.

The switch is of a rocker style, left is 1st heat level low, to the right is
    HOT>............ when they worked :(

I have found a source for the heater pads, but I know removing the leather
from the seats may prove difficult.

Eventually I plan on getting a 960 of either the early type or later type,
heck, even a S90 would do me fine!

My 760 won't die, that is the problem! No rust, never been repainted,
doesn't require much maintenance... I better knock on some wood!

    Cheers
