MP3 capable CD player in XC?

Does anyone know for sure if the CD player in the current model XC70
supports MP3? I have inquired as several dealerships and have been told
both yes and no.

A CD that plays fine in my MP3 player gave "CD ERROR" when I tried to play
it in our '04 XC70 (HU-803 audio system).
