need help putting my 3rd row / cargo seat back under!

hi folks! I have a '93 240 wagon. I opened up my 3rd row cargo seat to show my family since they'd never seen it. now, I can't get it to flip back over to be put away. it is "smushed" down. just seems to be locked in place so I can't release the back to flip over. I see a silver release type bar behind the seat on the back board but it isn't releasing anything. the manuals I have do not address anything about this seat. thanks for any help!

fyi....i was finally able to release the seat with the help of a long screw driver. seems the mechanism needs fixing now that I have access to it. the spring is not attached to the lever that release. will have to work on that.
