Hi there.

It is very easy to replace the bulbs behind the facia on the SC80x radios.

Just remove the radio, (as per manual, or press the 2 vertical tabs near the

bottom of the radio panel, and watch the 2 handles pop out! Grab 'em and

pull.)  remove the 4 or 5 screws from around the sides of the panel (one is

an earth-tag connection), and pop up the clips which hold the front panel

on.

The bulbs then fit in with a bayonet type action. There are only 6 or so on

the panel. Might as well change them all at once, so the job will last?

The best thing to do, is buy the bulbs first, so you can do the whole job

within a few mins. That way you won't have parts of the radio lying around

for a week!!

The part number for the bulbs is (UK part number??) 9148908. They have

coloured bulb covers on them too, which can be re-used, or purchased with

the bulbs.

These bulbs are the same as those which illuminate the various switches in

the car, e.g heated seat switches.

I recently changed the bulbs behind my radio panel, and I put blue bulb

covers on instead of green. Much more modern looking!

Hope to help, and cheers for now.

Joe.

p.s my radio screen also went out last year, and this uses the same bulb,

but you have to de-solder the metal surround from the LCD screen to get to

this one. May be a bit tricky unless you have access to some good soldering

equipment (high-temp iron, and large tip, plus de-soldering gun).

If in doubt, bring it to me!!
