Overdrive problems with a 940SE auto

I have just purchased an "H" reg Volvo 940 SE (2l petrol) automatic.

I have an orange arrow on the dash that tells me that the overdrive is
disengaged. However pressing the tit on the gear lever has no effect -
also I still have 4 gears (or 3 gears + overdrive)!

So, the tit is not operating the relay and even if the relay is
operating, the overdrive solenoid is stuck.

I have found the relay, visually inspected it and also re-soldered it.

I haven't yet found the overdrive solenoid!

So what is the next logical step?

Also, where is the overdrive solenoid on the box?

    Cheers

The solenoid is toward the rear. Look for the wire coming down from
above the transmission, often it rests on the top side of the
transmission, and the insulation wears through, shorting the wire out
    and blowing the fuse.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
