Premature S70 tail lamp failure

Discussion in 'Volvo S70' started by Armchair observer, Aug 29, 2003.

  1. The tail lamp bulbs mounted in the trunk lid of my 1998 S70 seem to
last only about 4-6 months. Is there another type of bulb that could
better withstand the thunking of the trunk and provider longer
    service?

I too run a 98 S70 and over the last few weeks have discovered something.

I was getting the bulb out warning quite a bit for my tail lights and
changed the bulbs each time. Then I got the warning on the dash again which
turned out to be a bulb that I had only changed about a week before.

Upon closed inspection, I found that the bulb had worked it's way loose and
hence was not making contact. Every single bulb failure warning since has
    just required the bulb reseating.

So next time, before you actually change the bulb, make sure it is actually
    in the socket correctly.
