Can anybody give a repair manual recommendation for the 1969 850 TDI (diesel)
station wagon with automatic transmission? There is a Haynes Manual which covers
only gasoline models, ISBN: 1859602606. There is another one from Haynes ISBN:
1563923556 which promises 93-97 all models. A Chilton ISBN: 0801990955 promises
90-98. There is also a guy in Netherlands selling DVDs on Ebay who states it
would be the official repair manual.

My experience with the Haynes manual on CD for the 740s was ok, it also covered
    the diesel engine.

Any experiences or better suggestions what to choose?

No Haynes manual covers the diesel engine.
You can buy the Vadis DVD to get the most info.
Information on automatic transmission is not good, since Volvo recommends
renewal instead of repairing in a local workshop.

Niels, do you by any chance know which Haynes covers the Audi 2.5 TDI
engine which happens to be in 850 and S/V70?

Or no Haynes covers that engine?

    THNX.

In an earlier contribution to this discussion,
That will be the right basic engine. I don't know how much customisation
Volvo did - particularly with the electronics - but the mechanical bits
should be the same. Volvo may also have used different mounting brackets.
