I changed the oil in the tranny of the 97 850GLT. Now I get lousy mileage.
What gives? The tranny feels like it is slipping...The level is good...

  2. Are you getting a harsh downshift during braking and a harsh re-engage upon
acceleration? That's what's happening to my 95 wagon at 120k. Runs fine
cold. I've had major slipping problems but that was over a month or two ago.
Now it's just the shifting issues. Tranny has been flushed, and the fluid is
    still looking good.

Mileage is around 22-23, but I still gotta do new cap/rotor and some other
maintenance it's also been rather cold.

Not meant to insult your intelligence, but did you use the correct
    type of oil?

Not an insult...seen the mistakes made and made some of my own.

The oil was a dexron III ATF as specified in the manual and Haynes.

Is it because I changed the tranny oil at 105K miles?

Yes, all of the above problems. Lousy lousy mileage...18mpg in city when I
used to get 23 mpg before the change.

  6. I'm averaging 22.5, probably could be just a bit better with a new cap and
rotor I want but the plugs are new. It's also kind of getting cold.

  7. I'm only getting 15 mpg on my '96 850, with only 63 Kmiles !!!

Even though I've got new cap/rotor/plugs/airfilter/fuel filter, and I just
had the tranny flushed and refilled by the Volvo dealer. The Volvo dealer
    told me I needed a new transmission ($3K) because I had a "Solenoid B
malfunction" indication, but that went away (and hasn't come back) since I
had them flush and replace the fluid. I still feel like the tranny shifts
more often than it should. What else can I check ? or is it really that I
    need a new tranmission?
