Hi, I own a 1991 Volvo 940 se, last week I had to get the breakdown out as my starter would not turn and sounded noisy and a smelt of burning, the breakdown man told me I needed another starter so I bought a second hand one of the internet and was told it was a good starter but when I put it on the car it would not spin and I just got a clicking sound so I removed it. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I connected all the wires in the right order but still would not turn. So I might have been sold a faulty starter.
