Third seat in a 740

In addition to the antenna I already mentioned, I bought a 3rd seat
and seatbelts from the salvage yard for $35! Wow. I think I get
great deals when I go to a place like that by myself; I don't think my
husband would get the prices I did. :-)

Most of the installation is pretty straightforward except for the pins
that go into the bracket. Is it possible for a single, two handed
person to install that herself? I had to get someone to push the pin
in in order to get the seat out; do I need someone to push the pin in
to get it in too? It's a hard push, too, so my kids can't help. :-)

is it possible to get the bolts machine tightened on the seatbelts
when I'm all done? I tightened them as best I could but I really want
to make sure they're in tight before driving other people's kids in
them.

Wicked good price on the 3rd seat. I saw a salvaged one for sale at a parts
dealer for $495 cdn.

no kidding. I hate to appear sexist, but stuff like that sometimes
happens to me and I suspect gender bias. of course, I wonder about
the shop in Palo Alto that I think took me for a ride, so it balances
out.

I got the seat in with the help of my husband. It took a better pair
of pliers than I had been using, but it also needed a second person to
push the seat into place while I depressed the pin.

Now that the seat is in it won't lie flat. I wonder if the shop moves
any of the gas lines underneath the seat? is there anyone with a 3rd
row seat who is willing to send me some jpg's of the installed seat?

Putting the pins in isn't hard, they slip right in. I'm not sure why yours
are being such a tussle.

ok, doofus warning. I didn't lift the seat bottom forward first and
then put the seatback over it. my seat actually works great.
sheesh. that's what I get for installing one without ever having seen
one in action, other than the one I stripped out of the car at the
salvage yard.

I do still need information on the seatbelts since the lowest one is
flush with the tirewell and I don't think it's supposed to be that
way.
