I believe I have a sticking throttle cable.
From the test I have carried out it appears to be the cable and not related
to the throttle mechanism.

Is it difficult to change the cable especially up under the dash, could I
Imbricate the cable without removing it.

You will probably find that the cable is sticking because it is fraying
inside the outer covering. Change the cable for a new one. Follow
instructions in Haynes or Chilton manuals.

Cheers, Peter.

If your Volvo is a automatic transmission check the kick down cable the
cable gets stuck causing your complaint

The official count is 343, but there was also a volunteer who lost his life
aiding in the initial rescue efforts. And I will never forget them as long

When I had this happen on my cruise control I ran solvent through the cable
then synthetic oil never seized again .It was also sitting across the top of
the engine getting to much heat so I insulated it with a bit of rubber hose
..To get the oil down the cable I put synthetic oil in a balloon, inflated it
and held it over one end of the cable whilst inflated .the air pressure
pushed the oil right through .

My S70 had a sticky cable when I got it - I don't remember what was
exactly involved, but I remember not having any problems. You do need
to crawl under the dash.
