US NHTSA Announces Investigation into Volvo Sudden Engine Death Problem

    This sounds like one of the problems owners have reported here many times.

    I am amazed that Volvo does not have a more customer-focused response
    when they have these kinds of design/manufacturing defect issues arise.

    I'm amazed that there have only been 136 complaints! All you Americans
    who've had this problem should have written letters of complaint!

    Indeed. Very few people go to the trouble of filling a formal
    complaint with NHTSA when they have a problem with their vehicle. >99%
    of folks just get whatever broke fixed, paying out of their own pockets
    if the vehicle warranty is expired.
