    Hello,

I googled for this but didn't find any good answer. How to connect some
external mp3 player to 603 radio unit?

I wouldn't like to replace whole unit. Rather connect some external player
    (CD or memory-based)...

  2. Don't know what an 603 is. On my V70 I uses a Sony gadget that fits in
the tape player and plugs into my iPod. Works great. Radio Shack sells
    the same gadget.

Best way is with a little radio transmitter. Look for the "Belkin
Tunecast". It takes 2 AAA batteries, and plugs into the headphone socket on
your CD player/iPod/minidisc/whatever else you have. Choose a frequency,
and tune your radio into that frequency. Works over about 10 metres.

Note that in the UK it's technically illegal to use as you're broadcasting
on FM, even though it;s VERY low power and is unlikely to reach the car
sitting behind you. They're very cheap - Apple sell them on their website
    (www.apple.com).

603 is Tape/CD/RDS unit sold in Europe with Volvos. You can connect
    external CD changer.

What about quality? Can You hear that it's MP3 (via tape head) - Is there
a difference to listening to original CD? Better than radio?

What about connecting external CD changer that's capable of playing MP3?
There is one from Sony (CDX-T70MX, ~350 euro) - would Volvo radio work
    with that one?

  5. When I play my iPod through the tape head, the quality if excellent,
much better than FM radio, probably not quite as good as true CD. The
Sony or Radio Shack adapters work with any good audio source such as the
CD changer or an MP3 player.

  6. Several companies make FM modulators -- you plug one into the earphone
socket of the MP3 player, tune the radio to the frequency that the
modulator uses, and you're all set!

  7. Unfortunately FM modulators introduce noise and distortion. Many people
that purchased them have abandoned them. If you buy one, get a money
    back satisfaction guarantee.
