V70 power window switch

Discussion in 'Volvo V70' started by Peter \(Remove the Remove\), Nov 1, 2004.

  1. Can the driver-side power window switch on a '98 V70 be fixed?

Mine is sometimes failing and sometimes it makes a clicking noise (like a
    bad solenoid).

Do you have to take the door panel off to replace the switch?
    Thanks,
    PC

You can pop the switch out without removing the door panel, but it's not
easy to do without marking the door panel. Since it's so easy to remove
the panel, then you can push the switch out from below. The switch will
come apart, and if things haven't melted you may be able to clean the
contacts, but there's alot of them, and they're on tiny fingers that are
easy to bend. However, it really won't cost you anything to try.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)

  3. Takes for the tip! However, I was suspect of the clicking noise, like a
starter with a weak battery, and pulled out the auto-reset fuses to the
power windows and cleaned the contacts. That did the job!
