Which engine do you have? On the 2litre 20valve engine with LH fuel
injection and separate ignition ECU's a failed Cam sensor will NOT prevent
the engine from starting as it does not use sequential fuel injection.

On all other engines, no signal from the cam sensor will prevent the engine
starting- although it will continue running if the signal fails after the
    engine has started.

Also check the earth to the igntion amplifier and re-make direct to battery
if necessary- this is a very common cause of a no start on the 850.

but the crank shaft sensor is the initiative signal to the CPU when starting
the engine and the engine won't be start without this crank shaft signal..
