LOL. Nope, Barrie Ontario. About an hour north of Toronto (once you
spend an hour getting out of the city).
Getting down to shorter strokes on accquiring a wagon (i.e. actually
talking to sellers and establishing a budget) and there's an 850 Turbo
Wagon for around $4000 I'd like to get checked out. I also got word
that a 1991 940 Turbo wagon I was interested in (partly due to
stumbling on this:
http://www.epinions.com/content_21682228868) but
the owner replied today to say:
"I replaced the turbo in October 2003 for $1100 (I've got all my
maintenance records). It does blow smoke if you really step it and
use the turbo, but this was my wife's car so that didn't happen too
often. On a trip from here to Ottawa I would burn about a half liter
of oil and could count on one liter of oil needed between oil
changes."
My 240 was/is a Turbo and it has quite an apetite for oil too but it's
an '83 with an oil-cooled turbo, this '91 should be water cooled so
blowing smoke and consuming oil is a red flag to me.
I asked the question here before and the 940 series came out on top in
terms of reliability, longevity, cost of ownership, and ease of
repair. I just like the 850 series but it may be beyond our means to
get a decent one.
In a perfect world I'd be able to buy from someone here so I'd know it
was maintained.
