Hi!

I got invited upstate by a friend to go to the Syracuse Nationals, it's
supposed to be a really big car show on the weekend of July 18 - 20. Anyway, if
anyone reading this has ever been there before, are there any chances of seeing
any older Volvos? It would be nice to see something older than a 240 in the
flesh. Thanks!

Hello Alex:

I live in a nice suburb East of Syracuse and was at the Nationals last
year. There were a few wild PV-544's there and some later model
wagons. Looks as if there will be over 6,000 cars on display and this
is a great recreation area with plenty to do if you get tired of
looking at cars. I did see a great looking 122 wagon last year that a
guy shoehorned a Chevy 283 shortblock into. I drove it and it was
incredible, much faster than the 71 1800E I had that I dropped a buick
aluminum block 215 into.

Remember the Sunbeam tiger? My 1800 was faster and a real corvette
killer. Too bad some girl in a big Buick lost control on and autumn
day and ran into me head on while I was waiting for a light to change.

Keep in mind most of the cars are hot rods. Any Volvo you see will be
tricked out and have a V-8. NOt a place for purists.

If you plan to come up let me know and I can recommend very new and
reasonable accomodations not more than a 15 minute drive from the NYS
Fairgrounds where the event is being held.

Regards,

D

D,

Sorry I took so long to reply, this is the first time I checked for a reply in
a few days. I will be at the show on Friday the 18th, and I cannot wait.

I should have been more specific in my original post, actually I would be glad
to see ANY Volvo there, and it must have slipped my mind at the moment but I
think the one Volvo I really want to see is a 262C. Fingers crossed!

So sorry about the 1800, but what can I say except it was a Volvo and probably
because of that you're here today reading this. OK, so maybe that's a little
dramatic, LOL.

PS - Thanks for the offer on accommadations - I'm staying with friends who live
in the Binghamton area (they're the ones who invited me). Like I said though,
thanks!
