XC90 wheel caps and wipers

Is anyone else having problems with the wheel caps falling off?

I have an XC90 2.5T with standard wheels and the small black wheel caps
(with Volvo written in them) are falling off. I have lost two now and they
are $AU30 a pop.

Also during a service I was told that I needed new wiper blades, no problem
I thought until I was told that would be $AU100!!!!

Does anyone know of an after market pair that suit. I think the problem with
"normal" after market blades is that they are not the same shape. I am also
told that you can just give the old blades a light rub with some sandpaper
and get more life out of them.

Any comments on either issue?

In various situations in the past I have made my own safety wires
using stainless steel woven cable used on model airplanes- thin,
light, strong, flexible and corrosion proof.

The difference may be just in the holders (like an aerodynamic shape
or special mounting or something). If the actual rubber parts are
standard you may be able to just buy an aftermarket set of the same
length blades and just take the rubber from them and switch them.
