Try unplugging the air mass meter and see if it starts.

If it does start, that doesn't mean you don't have to replace that
AMM, though. It will foul the plugs and cause other problems if run in
'limp home mode' for long. If unplugging the AMM works, look for a used
or rebuilt unit ASAP.

Yeah I figured that went without saying, if you didn't need the AMM, it
wouldn't be there in the first place. The car will start and run without it,
but not well.
It is worth cleaning the connector before replacing the AMM though.
