I admit that this is NOT my area of expertise. I have a 1992 240. It pulls to the left. T he wheels have been balanced and the brakes redone. (and the problem predates the brake work.
I took it to an alignment shop to try and get a handle on the problem. The left caster is 0.8 degrees. The right is 3.1 . According to the manual the caster is not adjustable, so something is bent or worn.
Based on my reading in line, the caster is determined by the Control arm strut rod.
Am I correct in thinking that I have to replace this?

From what you're saying, yes. The only thing (other than a tire or brake issue), that could make your car pull like that is a bent/damaged part. Replace it. You must've hit a nasty pothole, or some rust perhaps?
