My 85 gets 24mpg.
Repair?? might be cheaper to go to a self service salvage yard and get the
cluster from one of them. You can tell if it works by spinning the input
with your finger, which will make the needle jump, and after about fifty or
so spins the milage counter will advance.
My replacment for my 85 cost me $12.
