Crunching dashboard V70 ('97)

Hai y'all,

My 1997 V70 makes an annoying screetching noise just behind the wheel. It is
the plastic cover(s) that hide the steering shaft that make the noise.

Any suggestions on how to stop this &#%^@&*()# noise?
