A guy at work just picked up an '84 760 TurboDiesel. Took it to a mechanic
and they said it needs ~$800 worth of work to replace coolant hoses, timing
belt, and the oil pan gasket. Looks like I can do the hoses for him easy,
but how hard is it to do the oil pan gasket? I've never been under one of
the diesels so I don't know what to expect. Will the pan come off without
pulling the motor? As for the timing belt, I've heard this requires some
special tools and I've never done it on a diesel so I'm inclined to let him
have a shop do that part.
