Hello:
I have a 1995 Volvo 960. Recently, while driving on the freeway at
seventy mile per hour, all power ceased. The engine stopped. I was,
however, able to restart the motor. I have not had the problem since.
Does anyone know what could be the problem? What about cost to repair?

Fault in the ignition switch?

Does the 960 suffer from the dreaded fuel relay problem? Mind you, 1995
sounds too young for that.

I don't know/ I hadn't heard of such a problem.

How would that be a problem when the car is already running and
traveling at 70 mph?

I think it's possible that if the ignition switch was worn, and the keys
moved a little, contact might be broken and the engine might stop.

I think I prefer the fuel pump relay option myself, but just guessing...

Think about it.
A break in the ignition switch contacts will cut the electrics and stop the
car, otherwise how would you ever stop the engine!

whatever the problem, it sounds electrical...if it happins
"in an instant".....get it to your local shop, have
them test it...it will probabally be a couple of hundred
bucks....whatever it is...be thankful there wasn't a
"BIG ASS" truck right behind you...when your decided to
stop moving.......probabally w/out any brake lights ;-(

Hmmmm ... Sounds Plausible. I will have to have that checked out. Thanks.
