Can anyone recommend a good spark arrester to use with the radio on an
850GLC, This is a unit with the CD changer in the trunk. I can only get
the most powerful AM stations with lots of engine noise.

Thanks,

Check that the antenna is "earthing" to the chassis properly. Remove the
antenna from the guard, and clean the metal underneath (on inside of the
trunk not the outside) of paint and rust, put a bit of grease on it if
you're worried about rusting, and re-install the antenna, making sure the
teeth at the underneath of the antenna bight into the metal properly. If
the earthing is poor you'll get lots of noise on AM.

I agree with 'Baz' - the antenna ground is the most likely culprit. This is
the place to be a fanatic; make the metal shine and clamp the antenna down
firmly. I like to put a film of silicone grease on the bare metal before
reassembling.

Thanks to Mike and Baz.

I'll check the antenna.
