Which Steering Rack do I have?

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Enoch Zembecowicz, Nov 3, 2003.

  1. The inner tie rod end in my 78 245 has gone south. The car has the
steering rack from an 89 in it.
I called the auto parts store to see about a new one and discovered that
there were two racks used that year, and the plate that identified which
rack you have was in the trunk.
The rack has a number, which I guess is a serial number on it. It is
34006743LH, (Left Hand drive?). Could I find out which kind of rack I
have with this number and if so where?

The inner tie rod end is actually the easiest way to tell the difference.
Here is the first hit taht came up on a google search:

    Hope this helps!
